24 DAYS IN ICELAND

DAY 24

Last Day in Reykjavík

I have to be honest - I didn't want to come back into the city. Too many people, traffic, parking meters and just too much energy. After this trip, and especially after spending a few nights here a few weeks ago, it's really the first day on this entire trip without a new adventure. On the other hand, I'm wiped, and almost glad to have a now familiar place to relax for a night. Not much new to explore...just prowling the streets, finding new art, and a few scenes I might have missed the first time around. It's a great little city. So this time around, no skylines, no sightseeing, just walking down streets and seeing what's at eye level. Keep it simple.

Actually, I'm kind of lying. We hunted puffins for an hour. We boarded a boat in the harbor which took us through rough seas for 20 minutes and out to an island where they nest...and there they are. We traveled all the way around the island looking for this bird and as it turns out it was hanging out just outside the city where we started. The last bit of sightseeing and being camera-toting tourists. Back to the apartment to finish off the wine and somehow get the suitcases to close. Goodnight Iceland :)

I don't do wildlife photography - I don't have the lens for it. This was the best I could do.
My Mom has a lens that could see the astronauts on the moon. This is her photo.
